The CBNet team has worked on the CDM in 26 sub-Sahara (Anglophone and Francophone) African countries since 1998. Much of the early work focused on creating awareness of the potential for CDM but, in the process, numerous CDM projects were sourced, reviewed and developed to various stages.
Our most recent capacity building activities in Kenya and Tanzania reversed the focus, concentrating on developing CDM projects while 'mentoring' domestic project developers through to the stage of validation readiness. We are currently developing several CDM projects and assisting clients to develop new methodologies and grid emission factors in other countries of the region.
Our partner, Triple E, has an office in Nigeria and has been active there and in other African countries for many years.
Asia
The CBNet team has been similarly active on the CDM in Asia, although only in nine countries, including China, India and five in Southeast Asia.
Our partner in Asia, Carbonergy BCS recently worked for the World Bank in Mongolia assisting the DNA by advising on revisions to the current governance framework, strucuture & procedures. As a follow-up Carbonergy has prepared a project proposal to assist in readying Mongolia for new carbon market mechanisms under a NAMA framework.
Work has also just been completed for KfW in the Philippines looking into the market potential for hog farms under programmatic CDM; a comprehensive PIN has been prepared.
Latin America & the Caribbean
While less active in Latin America so far, the CBNet team is now gearing up its work in the region through the US office of our partner Triple E that has been working with CARICOM on various initiatives.
Prior to that, the team has been active on the CDM in five Latin American countries.
