Mentoring to Empower African CDM Project Developers

The Swedish Energy Agency and Climate Business Network (CBNet) held a joint side event in Copenhagen during COP15 (webcast) under the EU umbrella. The event, entitled ‘Mentoring to Empower African CDM Project Developers’, highlight the experience and current approach of the CBNet team in Africa. Evolved during the last 11 years of providing CDM assistance in the region, the approach is now being road tested in East Africa under a Swedish Energy Agency-SIDA programme.
Apart from CBNet core team members, panelists included representatives from Kenya (Kenya Electricity Generating Company Limited and Kridha Limited) and Tanzania (Mkonge Energy Systems Co. Ltd. and the Rural Energy Agency). The presentations can now be downloaded as a PDF file

CBNet attended the Africa Progress Panel (APP) meeting ‘Kick-Starting Africa’s Carbon Markets’ in November 2009 that convened key stakeholders from African Governments, development partners, civil society and the private sector to identify practical solutions for developing the unexploited CDM potential in Africa.
